Fairy Night Eye

Using Ink Drops in Your Digital Compositions

Final

Step 1

The first and probably most fun part of this tutorial is to photograph the ink drops. Get some Indian ink and any type of clear container (I used a food container). Fill the container with water, then drop in the ink and snap away.
Tips: Constantly take pictures while the ink drops, as the shapes will change considerably over time. Photograph the ink drops in front of a white background to produce clearer pictures. Experiment with dripping the ink using pipettes and any other device you can get your hands on.
If you don’t have access to ink and a camera then check out these images: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Feel free to experiment with the ink drop images, but do pay attention to the usage license.

Step 2

Open a new document, set the background to black, and import the main image you want to use. I used a self portrait that I photographed myself. Cut out the image you’d like to use in your composition. After removing the background, we’ll be able to focus on integrating the ink into the design.

Creating Energy Spheres in Photoshop

  1. Download the brush set and install it.
  2. Now I’ll show how to take a child with a big imagination and turn him into the powerful being he imagine himself to be.
  3. We’ll start by creating a new layer on top of our original and filling it with black. Next we want to select Filter >> Render >> Lighting Effects >> Lens Flare

Light Effect On A Model

Light Effect On A Model
Step 1: Open a new document, I used 800x600 pixels and look for a model photo on the internet, this is the one I used:
LightEffect1
After downloading, place it on your document. Now we will start to retouch it!
Step 2: As you can see, it is a bit dark so we should make it brighter first. Duplicate your photo by pressing Ctrl-J and change its blending mode to Screen. Simple, right?
LightEffect2
It is now better. Merge down this layer donw by pressing Ctrl-E. After that, duplicate it again and go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and use a value of 4.5 pixels
LightEffect3
Step 3: Change the blending mode to Overlay and merge it down. The model now looks wonderful!
LightEffect4
Step 4: Next we will add some light on her. Use the Pen tool and make some point around the dark areas of the model, don't need to be so exact
LightEffect5
Step 5: Convert this path into a selected area, you can save this area for later use by going to Select>Save Selection
LightEffect6
Step 6: Create a new layer and go to Filter>Render>Clouds and Filter>Artistic>Plastic Wrap, just use the default values
LightEffect8
Now change its blending mode to Color Dodge. Your photo may look a bit different:
LightEffect9
Step 7: In the next steps, we will add light effect on the model. Use the Pen tool to draw some curves on her
LightEffect10
 LightEffect11
Step 8: Reset your colors by pressing D and invert them by pressing X. Choose the Brush tool and go to Window>Brushes to open the Brushes panel. Pick a small brush (about 5 pixels) with 0% hardness and tick on Shape Dynamics. Create a new layer, choose the Pen tool again, right click and choose Stroke Path. Make sure you tick on the Simulate Pressure before pressing OK
LightEffect13
A small curve, thinner at two ends appear like this:
LightEffect14
Step 9: Repeat step 8 again but this time we also tick on the Scattering checkbox (make sure you make it on a new layer)
LightEffect15
After choosing Stroke Path, we get
LightEffect16
Now we can delete the path by pressing Enter. Double click on your two new created layers to open Layer Style dialog box. Use Outer Glow as following:
LightEffect17
Use the Eraser tool to delete some light areas, the glowing light seems to surround her. After this step, we get:
LightEffect18
Step 10: Make our light effect stronger by duplicate the "glowing dots" layer. Press Ctrl-I to invert its colors
LightEffect19
Change the blending mode to Overlay. And this is the result:
LightEffect20
This technique can be used in various ways but the principle is still the same. Hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Retouch A Girl with Lighting Focus

Retouch A Girl with Lighting Focus

Before we start, let's have a look at what we'll be retouching:
Before:
Retouch_girl_1
And after:
Retouch_girl_10
Download the original image and we are ready to go!
Step 1: The original photo is a bit dark and her skin is not bright and lovely enough. In this case, we can use Channel Mixer tool to enhance the colors separately. You can find this tool at the bottom of Layers tab
Retouch_girl_1b
If you are new to this tool, I wish to explain more about it. As you knew, a photo is based on three main colors (in RGB mode): red, green and blue. With the Channel Mixer tool, you can manipulate these raw channels separately. Notice that when choosing Channel Mixer tool, you will see there are 3 options in the Output Channel drop-down box corresponding to 3 main colors. And you can also notice that with each main color, the slider of that color will always be set to 100%, by default. For example, when you choose Red from Output Channel, you can see the Red slider are at 100% (while Blue and Green are at 0%). And by moving these sliders left or right, you can decrease or increase the amount of that color in the corresponding Output Channel.
With this photo, we should mainly increase the amount of Green with the settings below:
Retouch_girl_2
Retouch_girl_3
Retouch_girl_4
Our photo now looks better
Retouch_girl_4b
Step 2: Press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E to create a flatten image which is the result of the under layers. In this step, we will smooth her skin a bit by going to Filter>Blur>Surface Blur, set the Radius of 2 pixels and Threshold of 4 pixels
Retouch_girl_5
Maybe you will not see any big changes but let's have a closer look...
Before:
Retouch_girl_5b
After blurring:
Retouch_girl_5c
By using this tool with a small Radius and Threshold, you can make subtle changes without making it look fake
Step 3: Go to Image>Adjustments>Curves to brighten our photo a bit
Retouch_girl_6
We are almost done, the photo now looks much better:
Retouch_girl_7
Step 4: The last thing we need to do is to add lighting focus to emphasize  her beautiful face. Press Ctrl-J to duplicate the current layer and go to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects and use these settings:
 Retouch_girl_8
Then change the Blending mode of this layer to Soft Light to make the colors "softer". Let's have a look at the result again:
Retouch_girl_10
Retouching photo is fun! And with the Channel Mixer tool and Lighting Effects filter, we can greatly enhance the photo from its raw color channels and set focus on what we want without destroying the original image

Photo to illustration Vector EffectÂ

Photo to illustration Vector Effect

I am going to show you a quick and easy way to convert a photo in to a illustration vector effect. Here we go!

Step 1: First I will start with an image.

Step 2:Duplicate the Background layer.

Step 3: Now apply the Cutout filter (Filter => Artistic => Cutout). On the left side the amount of detail in the vector can be controlled by adjusting the Number of Levels, Edge Simplicity and Edge Fidelity sliders. For this example I am using 5 levels, with the Edge Simplicity set to 3 and Edge Fidelity set to 3. Click OK.

Step 4: You can trace the areas of color divided by the Cutout filter with the Poster Edges Filter. For this example the Edge Thickness is set to 2, Edge Intensity to 1 and Posterization to 4. Click OK.

Step 5: The color can be changed subtly with a Photo Filter adjustment layer.

Step 6: And finally, to add to the ‘colored’ effect, a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer will help take away the natural highlights/shadows even more.

Step 7: Here is my final vector image:

Simple Make Up

Simple Make Up

In this tutorial, shows you how to enhance your normal potrait photo into beautifully fair skin and well done makeup, plus shiny healthy hair just like what we see on tv.
  1. Open the picture, and Dulplicate the picture (Ctrl+J) twice.
  2. Click on the top layer. Go to Filter > Distort > Diffuse Glow.
  3. Set the Grainess into 0, Glow Amount of 2, and Clear Amount of 6. OK. Now you’ll see your photos will be glowing and fair. Some color will be missing and it will obviously unnatural.
  4. To bringup the color. Go to Image > Adjustment > Hue & Saturation. Set the Saturation to 30 (the setting will depends on the picture).
  5. Now we want to start putting makeup on the model. choose Burn Tool. Select the suitable brush size, with Normal Brush, with the Hardness of 0. Set the exposure into 11, range: Midtone. Start brushing on the area of the eyelid, to darken the area like putting the eyeliner. Brush on the eyebrow.
  6. To highlight certain area we need Dodge Tools. Still using the same brush and the same setting, set the Range of Midtone, exposure : 16. Highlight on the eye to shine the eye.
  7. After that, Select the Sponge Tool. This is the step for giving the color to the part that we highlighted. Set the brush into Saturate, flow: 22. Start brushing on the eye. Now you can see the color is now visible and the eye looks better.
  8. Still with the Sponge tool, now we are going to create the eyeshadow. Brushing on the both corner of the eye. Also, brushing on the cheeck and lips.?
  9. We are going to make the hair looks shiny. Using dodge tool, with the same Setting in the step 6. Start highlighting on the hair.
  10. Finally, we are going to bring up the color of the hair. Choose Sponge tool, set the everything like in step 7, except the flow is 48. Brush on the hair.
The Final result :
